TST Support for K-9 Comfort Dogs

Have you met Lois? She’s a K-9 comfort dog cared for by her trained handlers, including TST President Rick Pollock.

Meet Lois, the K-9 Comfort Dog

Lois is a Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 Comfort Dog trained to interact with people in crisis. Total Show Technology (TST) supports Lois, and TST President Rick Pollock is one of her trained handlers and caregivers. Golden Retrievers like Lois are trained to interact with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and special events.

LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs live in the homes of their caregivers like Rick. The dogs serve every day in the community in which they are placed and are dispatched in times of disaster and crisis to bring comfort to all those affected, including first responders and the volunteers who serve them. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs are canine friends who bring a calming influence, allowing people to open their hearts and receive the help they need.

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry

Launched in 2008, the Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a national human-care ministry embracing the unique, calming nature and skills of purebred Golden Retrievers. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs are working animals trained to interact with people of all ages and circumstances who are suffering and in need. These loving dogs are permanently placed with churches, schools, and other ministries involved in Christian human care by LCC. Placement includes full training for handlers and caregivers along with ongoing support, coaching, and training.

K-9 Comfort Dogs: Love and Prayers Amid Tragedy

After 59 people were killed and more than 550 wounded in the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas, Lutheran Church Charities was invited “to bring comfort to those who mourn” (Isaiah 61:2). LCC Ministry teams and their K-9 Comfort Dog partners responded immediately, visiting hospitals, schools, churches, and first responders, as well as participating in community vigils.

LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs were also in New York and New Jersey visiting victims of Superstorm Sandy, as well as in Connecticut after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. LCC currently has more than 130 K-9 Comfort Dogs serving in more than 27 states.

We Believe in Giving Back to Our Community

At TST, our philosophy is that all businesses have a responsibility to give back to the community. That’s why we view our successes not only as a progression in the industry but also as a way to increase how much we can give back to the Las Vegas community and those in need.

LCC never charges those they serve. Donations help to defray future travel costs for the dogs and their handlers as they continue to reach out to those hurting and in need. If you would like to join us in supporting this fine organization, please visit their website.
