The Conventions Industry Rebound Is Underway
One thing the past two years have taught us is that the show must go on. Canceling and continually postponing events doesn’t serve the needs of the event hosts or their attendees.
For some time now, Las Vegas has been modeling how to host meetings and events, always with attendee health and safety in mind. For example, the return of the G2E convention in October 2021 and the return of CES in early January 2022 helped to mark the economic recovery of Las Vegas after it had been devastated by pandemic-forced closures. The return of these large-scale shows to Las Vegas was a huge step in the right direction.
Las Vegas tourism and business travel continue to rebound, and gaming revenue and hotel occupancy rates are steadily increasing and will eventually return to pre-pandemic levels. Until then, in-person and hybrid events will provide opportunities for businesses to introduce new products, increase brand awareness, and generate sales. These events will also provide opportunities for attendees from around the world to reconnect — something many people have long awaited.
