4K Technology.  Why is everyone using 4K UHD displays?
The industry now uses 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD), because 4K UHD is simply clearer. You can tell the difference right away. The image is clearer and easily readable. Hollywood movies are currently being shot in 4K and many services that make content for users are creating 4K content pieces. We are seeing high technology markets including Consumer Electronics, Computers, Streaming Video, Mobile, and Gaming adopting 4K as their screen or display of choice at every opportunity. Audio visual rental companies and production companies are adopting 4K as standard equipment inventory. Basically, if your end audience knows 4K (which many people do now) you need to show 4K UHD content at your event.

It took more than a decade for the industry to fully adopt the original move to High Definition(HD). Now, the industry has moved again. 4K UHD is here.  4K UHD is all about image quality. When choosing monitors or displays for your event, not all displays are created equally.  Nowadays, mainstream displays are offered are in High Definition (HD) format and 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD).  Everyone wants 4K UHD.

What is 4K UHD Technology?
There are 4 times as many dots making up an image as there are in an HD image. So, you get four times the picture quality. 4K UHD is a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 PIXELS (8.3 megapixels, aspect ratio 16:9).  Even higher specification standards exist beyond 4K UHD, up to 8K or 16K.

The 4K display market has exploded. As mentioned before, 4K displays are the new standard. 4K will make the most impact to the audience expecting it. If you have someone giving a high-tech presentation. Or, playing a video game as part of a booth… 4K is a must.

Do I Need to Create Special 4K content?
Yes, you need to create special 4K content. 4K Content is King.  For the most clarity and impact, you should have 4K content to be shown on your 4K UHD display. You can use non 4K material on a 4K display, but you will not see all the benefits.   The best approach for creating content for 4K is to contact the provider of your event technology. We work with our clients very closely on a consistent basis. Each system is different and may need special considerations. The most important thing to do is select a provider that will help guide you through the process.
And test your content before the show, on the exact system that will be used.

If you are using an older screen technology than HD, (it’s worth reviewing your needs with an AV Professional to see if 4K is a good upgrade path for you). Making the transition to 4K does mean upgrading gear and content to 4K UHD, we recommend you start with the most impactful equipment and content and migrate the rest of your equipment over time event by event. If you are not an audio-visual technician, you may have not had the time to brush up on what 4K technology is, and how 4K video walls or monitors can add clarity to your events.

Total Show Technology, is always looking forward to what our clients may need or expect. 4K content is starting to show up as a need at our customer’s events. And, we need the technology to work with it. Right now, quite a few companies have invested in 4K displays.
