TST recently provided general session audiovisual production support for a global technology leader at Dell Match Play in Austin, Texas.
Dell Match Play is a professional golf tournament, and it is the only one of four annual World Golf Championships contested using match play format. Supporting this general session gave TST the opportunity to work at the beautiful Austin Country Club and to produce an intimate session for a highly discerning audience from around the world.
Dell Match Play Strategic Production Support
Founded in 1899, the Austin Country Club is a remote venue located 25 minutes northwest of Austin. The course includes the 18-hole Pete Dye design golf course.
Based in Las Vegas, TST traveled with our client to support the Dell Match Play general session and regularly travels with our client to support other events in Austin and nationwide. On the surface, the Dell Match Play show is simple. The general session requires only two monitors and four speakers. TST brings a 6-person crew, which includes a stage manager, technical director, video engineer, audio engineer, graphics designer, and A2 technician. What complicates this show dramatically is the level of precision required. It’s our job to present the client’s brand in a creative, thoughtful way to create an event that is engaging and relaxing, enabling the client to communicate effectively with attendees. It’s also our job to do whatever it takes to preemptively address potential issues so every element of the general session goes off without a hitch.
From a risk management perspective, the equipment selection is extremely specific, and the chosen gear must meet exacting show requirements. The general session space has to be exceptionally tidy and well-coordinated, and all audiovisual equipment has to blend in with the environment. For example, no extension cords can be visible – cable needs to be run and taped in a manner that makes it look seamless with the surroundings. We review every detail several times over to ensure we address every possible need.
